• Founded and maintained by a writer, Milksop Magazine aims to be an approachable landing spot for new and emerging artists and writers who are just starting out. Publishing for the first few times is daunting. Milksop hopes to remedy that and becoming a safe, inclusionary, and unpretentious introduction to publishing.

  • Almost anything, preferably previously unpublished work. Submissions can range from art, photography, poetry, prose, fiction, to non-fiction. If you have previously posted your work to your personal social media accounts, don’t worry, we’ll still take that, just let us know beforehand.

  • Yes and no! There is a submission cut off for our Digital Magazine, which is usually noted either here or on our socials. However, we accept submissions year round for our Online Journal, unless otherwise stated.

  • Due to volume, we ask that you submit only once a month, in one category at a time.

  • If we select your work for publication, you grant us First Serial Rights. As for exclusivity, we do not have it nor do we want it. Some journals have a three month exclusivity, but we believe that hurts artists more than helps them. After your work has been published in either our Online Journal or Digital Magazine, all publishing rights revert back to you. If you choose to re-publish your work in another journal, magazine, or a printed collection, we just ask that you mention that the work first appeared in Milksop Magazine. Additionally, we may post your work to our socials after your publishing date. We always ask permission first, but if this is something you would like to be excluded from, please let us know.
